Design a Tea Towel using Linocut Printmaking

Tea towel printmaking is a fun way to design something special for yourself or to make a special gift for a friend or your Mum on Mother's Day.

On the day you will learn to carve a simple design that you have chosen and will then be shown how to print this design with fabric paints onto a tea towel. You will be shown how to use the tools, create and carve your own design and then ink and print your carving ready to take home.​

Macramé Made Simple​

Macramé is the therapeutic art of knotting a variety of cords into practical everyday items such jewellery, reusable bags, wall hangings, plant pot hangers and many more.

During the workshop, you will be taken through step-by-step foundational techniques used in traditional macramé and create two necklaces to take home.

Students will each leave with their own A6 notebook that they have covered and cased-in themselves, in their choice of beautiful marbled paper.

Perfect for complete beginners, you’ll be introduced to some standard bookbinding equipment and tools, including items you can source yourself at home for future projects, and learn a bit about this wonderful craft.

Bookbinder Amy will demonstrate every step of the process and provide all the tools, equipment and materials you will need.

Miniature Pottery

This hands-on session offers an immersive experience in creating miniature porcelain ceramics using a specialised small pottery wheel under the expert guidance of Fay De Winter of State of Clay.

Participants will also have the opportunity to decorate their pieces with vibrant coloured slips, adding a personal touch to their creations.

You will be sent the finished pieces in the post 2 weeks after the event. 

The workshop is appropriate for people aged 11+ (children must be accompanied by a paying parent and support one another during the workshop).

Jewellery Upcycling and Repair

Dive into the world of Brush Pen calligraphy. Get creative, find your flow, and unleash your inner artist in a fun and relaxing workshop. You will learn the basics of calligraphy using colourful brush pens and will have the opportunity to experiment and explore the process of creative lettering.

Participants will take home their completed workbooks with all the basics of brush pen calligraphy included.

Muswell Hill Creatives Make and Mend Festival 2023

Our next Make and Mend Festival is on Saturday 14 October 2023 from 2pm-5pm. Join us at the Festival after the FREE Lunchtime Concert in St Andrew's Church next door from 1.00pm-2.00pm.

At the Festival you'll find fabulous craft workshops to take part in, work on sale from local makers, sustainability advice, refill services and food and drink on sale - all making for great afternoon hang out.

Past Festivals

Over 250 people came to shop, watch artisans at work and take part in arts and crafts workshops at our Make and Mend Festival on 18 March 2023. It was a hive of creative activity, an opportunity to hang out with friends and enjoy tea and cake in the lovely surroundings of St Andrews Church Hall on Alexandra Park Road in Muswell Hill, London.
We held our first Make and Mend Festival at Hornsey Parish Church Hall on Cranley Gardens in Muswell Hill.
