The story of my 'Lips' limited edition screenprint is a good example of what it means to be part of a collective such as the Muswell Hill Creatives. A friend of mine really loved the lips linocut I had done for my Pucker Up card and commissioned me to create a larger version of the lips for him. I thought about the best way to achieve this without losing the qualities of the original. Recreating the image by doing a large linocut seemed a daunting task and so I had decided the best way was to do a scan of the original and get a giclee print made. I knew that my fellow Muswell Hill Creative Jess Albert had experience of giclee prints and so I asked her advice. She felt that a screen print might be a better way to go and recommended I talk to the Jealous Print Studio. Thus it was I found myself in the middle of hip Shoreditch discussing how to translate my small linocut image into a large screen print. The guys at Jealous were incredibly helpful and I was to benefit from both their expertise and patience, especially when it came to the test print stage. The final result is even better than I had expected; the screen print process has brought another dimension to my original image and it's all thanks to Jess, my fellow Muswell Hill Creative. |
